I have mentioned before how much I love my editor, Jeannette Larson, of Harcourt. I have told you how much I trust her judgment, that she has a knack for asking the right questions, that she has an incredible grasp of the history of children's lit. I have told you she is very, very talented.
Now, I have proof:

Jeannette sent me this snap yesterday. "I edited the whole thing with my toes," she said.
And not only is Jeannette a talented editor, but she is apparently a very good mentor. Hence, this photo of her assistant, the gifted Jessica Dzundza:

Makes a girl feel good knowing her books are in such great hands . . . er, feet. I love Harcourt.

I'm dying to know what your top secret news is that you could only tell Kelly! Nosey, huh?
I love it!
And I absolutely love A CROOKED KIND OF PERFECT and even got my 11-year-old son to read it and he also had great fun (he doesn't profess to love anything at this stage). "Istanbul (Not Constantinople)" on the organ! HA HA HA.
I'm so glad that you and your boy liked the book. I'm terrifically flattered that you wanted to call me afterward. That happens to me sometimes and it is a strange but also kind of wonderful feeling.
I don't usually lie down to read but that's how it worked out and somehow it made the experience even more special and enjoyable because I was in my dry, cozy little place reading a wonderful book. And it was strange having such a strong urge to call you but it also fit the unusual circumstances. Very nice.
if you'd like to come be interviewed on my crazy blog, you are more than welcome too!
did i already ask you? i'm a bit back logged but will love to have you
